BIG dreams require BOLD decisions

Do you believe that you have BIG dreams to achieve in your life? Of course you do. Everyone does. But what happens when you have BIG dreams but afraid to take bold steps?

It was 2012 when I took a bold decision that not every young man in his early 20s would. I had just completed my national diploma in IT and everything looked great for me. Finished my internship programme with a fresh and growing company in Pretoria. There was room for growth and a big fat salary in just few months to show for the years of studying. It was easy for me to continue with the work I was doing and focus on it for 5 years at least and then move on to another company, but my heart was telling me to do the unfavourable. It was telling me to take a bold step and a great leap of faith. I made a decision to quit the job and focus on doing work for an NGO whilst running a small company that didn’t have offices, let alone a telephone line. Family and friends thought I was crazy. To them, I totally wasted the three years of my life studying IT and only to do work that was not related to the course.

What a BIG risk I took. Was it worth it?

Fast forward, 4 years from then, the decision I took has totally transformed my life and lives of thousands of people in Southern Africa. That NGO I focused on, is the same organisation you now know as Agape Youth Movement. That small company I worked on, is now competing with larger communication firms in Gauteng and growing to greater heights each day. Was it scary to take that bold decision? Hell yeah! Was it worth it? Without any benefit of the doubt.

See, in life, you’ll always be presented with pleasurable and the not-so-pleasurable choices which you must choose from. Most, if not all times, the pleasurable choices you take, don’t enable you to explore greater success and fulfillment of our life goals. It takes a person who is willing to take BOLD decisions, in order to have breakthroughs in many aspects of his/her life. All the BIG dreams you have about your life, require you to take BOLD decisions. Bold decisions are always uncomfortable. They want you to give your best.

Today, I want you to take a BOLD decision and do that which you’ve always been afraid to. It might not be quitting your job, but whatever it is, remember that every BIG dream you have, requires you to take BOLD decisions. Don’t compromise.

The 6 Ps that torment people

1. Power
People that crave for power. People will go out of their way just to obtain power. Miseries have been caused, widows came and orphans have been crafted because people are chasing for power. A number of families were destroyed, friendships, relationships were destroyed in the process because people were craving for power. Don’t let power get to your head. You will crash!

2. Prosperity
People will go all out to prosper. People are told to do extreme things for prosperity. They will tell you that if you can sacrifice a child, your business will grow. If you can just bring your cousin’s eye just so that you can prosper. A number of people died because they want to prosper. Don’t be too anxious for success that you even lose yourself in the process.

3. Protection
That’s another P. There are so many families that would go all the way just to strengthen their families. People spend thousands of rands just to protect themselves from evil spirits and guard their houses. Knowing that you have a God who is a protector, you shouldn’t be worried about spiritual battles for He will prepare you and strengthen you for war.

4. Popularity
Others just want to be popular. Just to be seen on TV, Magazines, and Newspapers and they will do whatever it takes to see themselves being popular and people always talking about them. People go to the extreme just wanting to be famous. Ladies would even go out to be naked just to get some attention on social platforms. We need to run away from the obsession of being famous.

5. Presence
Others for presence. “When I come, people must sense me that I’ve arrived.” People would do anything in their power to make sure that people feel his/her presence. Stop over entertaining people. Be your best and people will love you still. Don’t go out seeking attention. If you are doing something good, people will give you attention.

6. Pleasure
They would sacrifice a number of things just for pleasure. People would sacrifice their dignity just to have pleasure. I was shocked to hear young people claiming not to have money to register for the next semester but they stiff have money to go see DJ so and so play and get drunk on that weekend. Priorities are not set right when pleasure is in the lead.

We need to learn not to let these 6 Ps control our lives. We need to learn how to draw a balance between all of them. Failure to do so, you will temper with your future and the happiness of people around you.
I want you to look at yourself today and introspect. Do you have any of the Ps? If the answer is YES, then you need to go on your knees and ask God to help you conquer that P.

Want to know the truth?

No one will fully understand what you are trying to do, many will act like they understand and only few will support you in what you want to achieve.

You will explain it to almost everyone you trust, but they will never understand what you are doing and how you plan to achieve it. It is tough for them to believe in something they never experienced let along dreamed.

You don’t have to beat yourself up because when no one sees what you see. Maybe that’s the reason why most of them cannot commit to your dream, but that’s not reason enough for you quit and let things go.

Every big success started with a dream that seems to be too big to achieve or too difficult for people to perceive, but that’s not supposed to stop you from dreaming of achieving.

You go around telling people how difficult that math test is going to be. You don’t go around telling how frightening that big meeting might be. You don’t go around telling people how depressed you. Tell them how blessed you are. Tell them how special, talented and brilliant you are. Tell them how capable and willing you are.

Right now you have a choice my friend. A choice to either listen to those who don’t see what you see, or to keep believing in what you see in your spirit. You have choice to either follow your instinct or quit. But remember that quitting is too easy for you, try something challenging like holding on a bit longer.

Falling out and off is not an option

Often times we are rejected by people, systems, and other things that we want to be part of. We tend to beat ourselves up for failing to be relevant towards them. We ask ourselves questions whether we good enough or fit enough to be part. We usually spend most of the time trying to fit in ’cause we think we are being to different. If you have ever found yourself in that type of state, you need to pay close attention.

Listen, the world is not all hunky-dory. Things will not always go your way. Things don’t work out in your life just because you are the worst sinner in the world. Rejection happens to all, whether you are good or bad. You will bump into a couple of YESes and a lot of NOs in life. That has nothing to do with you being cursed or anything but it has everything to do with your spiritual growth and maturity. Personal growth and development occurs whenever you are able to create a mechanism to handle rejection in your life.

No matter how many times you get rejected by people and they tell you that you are not good enough, you are not the best, you are not ready enough and all sorts of things, never give up on your dream. You will make it. You will pull through. You will break through. You will conquer. You will win. You will make it. Don’t you dare give up.

Falling-off and out is never an option. Remember that tough times don’t last but only tough people do. Rejection is part of the plan. It paves way for you to refine your strategy and be the best in whatever you want to achieve in life.

Have yourself an awesome week. May you prosper in everything that your hands finds to do productively.

Invest in yourself

If you were given the opportunity to ask God for anything, what would be your first wish? Would you ask for wealth, money or fame? Don’t you just wish you were treated like a king or queen? You wake up to enjoy your wealth and not work for anything. That is what most of us dream of. How are you investing in yourself?

“God said to Solomon, ‘Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people.” (2 Chronicles 1:11 NLT)

One of the most interesting passages of scripture in the bible is that of King Solomon who was a rich king with many wives and concubines. He literally had everything many of us wish we had. Being a king in Israel mean that he had wealth but to our amazement this well-spoken king, out of all the things in the world, he only asked God for wisdom.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” – (Proverbs 4:7)

What are you doing to invest in yourself? What are daily things are you doing that are promoting your gifts, skills and talents? How many workshops are you attending? How many seminars in-line with your vision have you attended thus far? How many books are you reading about the things you are passionate about? How many times a day do you think about the things that motivate or inspire you to become better?

If you value yourself, you will invest in yourself. You will be worth a great deal throughout your lifetime, both to yourself and to your community. People will identify with your success when you have invested in yourself. People are more drawn to your success and not your ideas.

What you know today is important, but if you don’t improve it, it will become irrelevant in the future. To invest in yourself, you need to give more time to yourself than giving it to other people – especially those who do not value your time. Do not spend your precious time thinking and doing things that do not add value but instead subtract value in your life.

Against all odds, put your vision first

The story of Walt Disney is, perhaps, one of the most inspirational stories of all time. While he is considered to be a prominent individual in the American-based animation industry and regarded as one of the most popular cultural icons all throughout the history of the world, he experienced a very challenging start.

When working at a newspaper, his editor fired him because of the fact that he felt he did not have the imagination or the ideas to continue working.

Immediately thereafter, he started several businesses – all of which failed and resulted in him filing bankruptcy. That did not stop him, though. He wanted to achieve a high level of success, and he continued to play with ideas that would lead to his success. When you want to succeed as much as you want to breathe, that’s when you will be successful (Emphasis added throughout).

In the 1940s, Walt Disney developed an idea for an amusement park where the employees of the park could spend time with their kids and other loved ones. Many contribute this idea to his visit to Children’s Fairyland in the State of California. He sketched out his ideas, he presented them to others, and he worked day and night on his idea.

Then, on the 17th day of July in the year of 1955, a live television show ran where Walt Disney presented his newly built amusement park to millions of viewers. In the dedication speech, he included that he opened the park “…with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to the world.”

Today, the parks that opened as a result of Walt Disney’s vision and imagination are the most popular parks to ever open to the public. He wanted success as much as he wanted to breathe and, after several failures and attempts, he achieved it. This is why the inspirational stories surrounding Walt Disney have such an immense level of popularity to this day.

Today would be a great day to start living your moment within your better self by reaping the rewards of life in true happiness, true intentions, and success by joining my inner circle where we give value to the world in many ways expressing how our actions speak louder than words and demonstrate our acts of kindness all over the world.
